Chapman, Deputy for Small Business, Phone 409-766-3006, Email Shamekia.M.Chapman@usace.army.milThe US Army Corps of Engineers Galveston District (SWG) will host a Small Business Industry Day on June 20, 2018 at the Jadwin Building, 2000 Fort Point Road, Galveston, Texas 77550. The purpose of this Industry Day is to present remainingwork for FY18 and upcoming work for FY19, help small businesses navigate through the contracting process, provide an opportunity for companies to network and meet potential vendors and subcontractors as well as to maximize interest in the district's contracting requirements. There will be representatives from the District's Operations and Maintenance Office, Project Management Office, Construction Office, Contracting Office and Architectural and Engineering Office to give brief overviews of their requirements.

SWG has a diverse mission that encompasses primarily civil works projects. SWG is responsible for maintaining 760 miles of shallow draft waterways, 240 miles of deep draft waterways, 13 shallow ports and 15 deep draft posts within a 50,000 square mile geographic area consisting of 48 Texas counties and 2 Louisiana parishes along the Texas Gulf Coast. SWG provides support to the Department of Homeland Security within its District Boundaries for primarily vertical construction, A&E, etc. While the bulk of projects are dredging or dredging related requirements such as levee repair, hydrologic surveying, placement area repair, soil and water testing, etc., we also require facility maintenance/repairs on theJadwin Building, which houses the District's Main Offices, as well as area offices located in Brownsville/Port Isabel, Corpus Christi and Port Arthur. The Galveston District requires work mostly from the following NAICS Construction Codes:236, 237, and 238. Other codes identified are 334111, 336612, 541380, 541611, and 541620. These are the NAICS codes used predominately in the Galveston District.

In processing for the event and matchmaking registration will begin at 8:00 am with the program starting at 9:00am and ending at 3:00pm. Lunch will be from 12:00 - 1:30pm.

This one day event will consist of presentations by the offices referenced above in the morning session and matchmaking sessions to allow contractors to give mini capability briefings and ask questions to the offices within the Districtin the afternoon session. There will also be two breakout sessions taking placewith a SBA representative followed by the SWG Deputy for Small Business concurrently with the matchmaking sessions.

All attendees are required to have a form of picture identification and/or avalid driver's license before they can enter the facility hosting the event.
