This project contains Items as listed below:
1. Greenhouse 68 - sf 1920
Inspect ~24" x 26" glass panes on a glass-covered greenhouse. Each panel is secured to the greenhouse roof trusses by anodized steel strips and weatherproofing. Replace broken glass panes with tempered glass - same size as the original glass. A visual inspection showed 13 panels as cracked or broken. Some of the cracked panes were sealed by chalk to ensure maintenance of insect-proof status. Re-positioning of some unbroken glass panes that may have slipped over time to show gaps, need to be adjusted to ensure insect -proof status. Work requires moving of shade cloth to access glass panels from theexterior, ladders, safety equipment and experienced workman to conduct the repairs on the roof which is supported by trusses and cross beams.
2. Greenhouse 67 East - sf 2955 and 67 West - sf 2955
Problem: Leaking Lexan roof panels in the greenhouses (67 East and 67 West) due to deteriorated panels and fastening screws. These leaks allow water in during rain and prevent efficient climate control.
Solution: Because of the age of the roofing material (almost 18 years old) and the degree of deterioration of the fastening screws, replace all Lexan panels for a leak proof roof. Also, in addition to the roofreplacement, re-mount and secure the shade cloth roof supports.
3. Greenhouse 74 (Insectary)
Assess polycarbonate joints in ceiling andwalls (554 sf), remove failed caulking and reseal air tight. Secure insulation falling in the headhouse (721 sf open work area) and repair ceiling surrounding exhaust vent that was damaged by a water leak.
