Arcata Associates, Inc. intends to purchase the items from IPtec 5673 W. Las Postias Blvd. Pleasanton, CA 94588 Asingle source for this acquisition is required based on the necessity for compatibility with existing equipment currently in use and a reduction in time and cost. The existing equipment is the same make and model as that requested in the purchase request and is propeitary to IPtec. The existing equipment has been tested and validated to perform the necessary functions for the project. Remaining with the same manufacturer avoids the additional time and expense of having to identify a new source and perform testing to verify that the equipment meets the operational needs.It also saves a significant amount of money because there will be no need to replace exisiting equipment. This cost savings is extremely important with the current budget issues within the Government. The Government intendsto acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 4:30 p.m. local time on May 31, 2012. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose ofdetermining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the government.
