Acquia is the first company to receive a Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA) Authorization to Operate (ATO) for federal customers using Acquia Cloud. It is one of the two providers to offer enterprise Drupal cloud services with a FISMA moderate ATO. In 2016, NIST spent significate amount of resources to migrate its primary websites to a Drupal Cloud hosted environment.

The Government's market research identified one other vendor with the capability to provide Drupal Cloud hosting services, Blackmesh. However, the Government determined that Blackmesh does not meet the Government's requirements after additional testing of the product.
As such, the Government's market research determined that only Drupal Cloud Hosting Services through Acquia meets the Government's security and functionality requirements. Carahsoft Technology has certified to be the sole GSA schedule holder offering Acquia products and services. It serves as Acquia's master GSA schedule holder and aggregator for US Federal Government Sales (GSA Schedule #: GS-35F-0119Y).
